We’re proactively working with local councils, architects, engineers, builders and home owners to help them understand the benefits of building with Wai Fir – our locally grown, untreated Douglas fir timber framing. Its natural resistance to moisture and decay means Douglas fir can be used extensively without any preservative treatment. And because logs are locally sourced and processed, Wai Fir products used in Nelson buildings are actually carbon negative – that means there is more carbon “locked” in the timber than has been emitted during its production. |
